Nick came from a home were drugs and alcohol were used all the time. Nick had never seen his parents sober, and no one had done anything to help him get out of there. Nick hated to see his parents drunk, and he couldn’t understand why they would even to chose to drink around a child. Nick is now trying to pay his way through college and he is currently trying to find an apartment he can rent, so he doesn’t have to deal with his parents drunken fights. He had never really had someone he could look up to, and he pretty much took care of himself, and both of his parents. Nick never really got the chance to have a normal child, since he spent most of it cleaning up after his parents, and trying to keep them from fighting with each other. Nick begged people to let him stay with them, but he couldn’t bare to tell his friends the truth, so he was pretty much denied from living at someone else’s place. Nick knows that he doesn’t want to grow up to be like them, and he is willing to be the person that doesn’t follow in his parents’ footsteps. He wants to make sure that his children do not have to go through the same thing as he did.
